Dr Anna Miller

Clinical Psychologist

DClinPsych, BA (Hons) MNZCCP, MACBS

Life throws us all some challenging experiences and at times, people may get stuck – in mood, life stage, circumstance, direction, patterns of relationships or behaviours. Sometimes, despite effort and personal resource, struggles can persist and begin to negatively impact on how we feel and go about life. For other people, most aspects of life may be going well, yet there may be a particular issue which they would like additional support with.

It can be hard to know how to navigate through these difficulties. I provide professional, evidence-based psychological therapy within a warm, supportive, non-judgemental, and collaborative therapeutic relationship. Therapy can be about making sense and meaning from events, understanding behaviour, noticing thoughts and thinking styles, processing emotions, and discovering new ways of relating to ourselves and others. It may involve identifying what is going well, as well as developing new strategies, experimenting with different responses, and interrupting cycles which keep you stuck and unsatisfied. When appropriate, I can help you move from awareness and understanding, to figuring out the ‘how’ of making change. I provide therapy according to your goals and needs, with the intention of helping you to be closer to being the person you want to be, and doing the things that are important to you.

I have been in private practice since 2018, as well as previously worked in the public health system for five years, where I provided assessment, treatment, and crisis response for people with moderate to severe mental health problems.  Currently, I work part time at Starship Children's Hospital in the Consult Liaison Team offering specialised psychological assessment and intervention for patients and families under the care of the Paediatric and Congenital Cardiology Service. Outside of this role, at Therapy Space where I see young people and adults who may be experiencing a range of mild to moderate mental health difficulties.

I can assist with problems such as low mood/depression, anxiety (generalised, social, health, phobias, panic), life transitions, stress and burnout, parenting and relationship difficulties, emotional regulation and distress tolerance, grief and loss, sleep problems/insomnia, and trauma (not ACC/sensitive claims).
