Phoebe Poulter

Clinical Psychologist

PGDipClinPsy, MNZCCP

Regardless of what brings you here, I believe that growth and healing are possible for everyone. Whether you're navigating a significant life challenge, managing a long-standing mental health difficulty, or simply wanting to understand yourself better — therapy can be a powerful space to do that work.

I'm Phoebe Poulter, a Clinical Psychologist based in Auckland. My approach is client-centred — shaped by the person who walks through my door, their worldview, values, and  hopes for who they might become. I work collaboratively, warmly, and without judgement, drawing on a range of evidence-based approaches tailored to what best fits you. These may include elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and mindfulness and self-compassion approaches.

Much of my work centres on people navigating significant life transitions — the moments that challenge and reshape our sense of who we are. This includes those processing a traumatic event, adolescents transitioning to adulthood, matrescence (women navigating fertility, pregnancy, and the postpartum period), the transition into parenthood more generally, and athletes developing the psychological skills to perform and thrive under pressure. Across all of these areas I commonly support people experiencing anxiety, mood difficulties, trauma, body image concerns, and self-esteem challenges.

I work with adolescents and adults experiencing:

  • Anxiety and mood difficulties

  • Life transitions and adjustment (transition to independence, becoming a parent, etc)

  • Fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum support

  • Experiences of trauma, including a special interest in birth trauma

  • Sport and performance psychology

  • Body image and self-esteem

  • Parenting support

I am also trained in and can offer professional supervision to individuals practicing evidence-based psychological therapies.
